Not all training techniques and training facilities are created equal

Public Service Announcement: We are not affiliated with any other training, boarding, grooming or daycare facility in this area. We are independently owned and operated by owners who live on site and specialize in homestyle boarding practices. We are fully aware of the other facilities in the region who have gained a reputation for hard-handed tactics, sloppy kennel management, and daycare facilities that claim to have daycare but keep the dogs in solitary confinement. Some places refuse to allow group play yet still charge extra for "daycare" while boarding. Folks, that's NOT the way we operate. At Allegiance K-9 boarding dogs are allowed to play with daycare dogs, and we never charge extra for that service! Our daycare is truly doggie daycare where the dogs are allowed morning and afternoon playtime, and they get intermittent rest periods throughout the day. Just know, your dog will tell you where they want to be! If your dog visits another facility and puts on the brakes after their first visit and you have to drag your dog inside, that's the first clue they don't like it there! WE LOVE DOGS, and it shows in the way we handle them. The coolest part . . . the dogs can smell how much we love them! Dogs are happy here and it shows.

We also do emergency drop offs. If something unexpected happens (a death in the family, medical emergency, childbirth, military related work, etc) and you need our help with your dog feel free to let us know. We will do our very best to accommodate because we keep a few emergency kennels open all the time and try not to book to capacity just in case there is an emergency and we need to step in and take your dog so you don't have to worry. We allow registered clients to use our self-drop off and pick-up system for emergencies as well. For military personnel, if you need to drop off your dog with us because of childbirth, we allow you to self-drop off anytime, day or night. Just let us know ahead of time and we'll make all the arrangements for you to have quick access to our facility. And if it's an emergency don't worry about payment . . . we can settle up when the emergency is over.

Our business philosophy:

Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest. Ecclesiastes 9:10 KJV

. . . . Whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31b

It Pays To Do Your Due Diligence!!

What questions should you be asking when interviewing potential trainers and boarding facilities?  Here's a little about us and how we operate.  Just know, that first and foremost . . . we love the dogs that visit us and they are treated like family!

1) What is your training style? What type of training collar and equipment do you use?

All of our training is balanced with praise & reward (using random treats/toys) and gentle corrections when appropriate.  We use a standard slip-lead training collar for gentle corrections.  Prong collars and harsh training devices such as shock collars are NOT used at our facility for standard obedience training.  If a trainer wants to immediately put a prong collar on your dog, they're just a lazy trainer. We believe good training is solidified by a good bond with your dog, and if given appropriate direction, your dog will want to please the handler by following commands and will eventually obey without the use of a leash or collar anyway.

2) Are you one of "those old-school trainers..." you know, the ones who believe it's ok to beat your dog into submission,  Or starve your dog until they decide to obey?

NO! This is NEVER okay! Training should be fun and a rewarding experience for your dog.  The dogs we train love coming back again and again.  It shows in the way your dog acts when you turn the corner and they sit up and try to drive your car for you the rest of the way into the facility because they just can't hardly wait to get out and go have fun!

3) Does your boarding facility allow the dogs ample outside time and play time in between rest periods? Or will my dog be locked up in solitary confinement and never see another dog?

Dogs who stay with us are on a scheduled rotation throughout the day and are given several hours (not just a 2 minute walk) of outside play time and socialization with other dogs.  If your dog is not able to be with other dogs, that's ok too. We have 6 separate play yards where your dog can still have ample outside time and see other dogs, but be safely separated. The important factor is that at our facility, your dog will be well socialized with people and with dogs! We never just put your dog in solitary confinement (aka "suite") and leave them there with no playtime or interaction. Our staff spends lots of time with all the dogs at our facility and they get loved on a lot! And we NEVER charge extra for your dog to go outside and play!

4) How is your boarding facility maintained for cleanliness and for the well-being of the dogs?

Our facility is maintained daily with 3 thorough cleaning schedules per day.  We feed morning and evening, and our kennel managers check the kennel throughout the day for any issues.  The owner lives on-site and is generally available 24/7 for emergencies or health issues.  The dogs under our care are treated the same as our beloved family pets. We love on and play with each dog as if they are our own.  We want them to be loved, healthy and free from harm.  Our doggy guests are housed in a safe, clean environment and we use only natural, effective cleaners and disinfectants for the safety of our staff and animals.  Unlike other facilities, we don't "offer housekeeping" ..... (insert eye-roll). We treat dogs like they are to be treated and that is to let them outside to potty instead of forcing them to potty in their suite or kennel.  Doing otherwise undermines housebreaking and kennel training.

5) How is your facility secured and how will I know my dog is safe?

Good question! At Allegiance K-9, all the dog yards are triple-gated. We have 6 different size play yards to keep small dogs separated from large dogs. We also have trained 24 hour guardian dogs that will alert the owner to potential threats or issues within the facility.  A new state-of-the-art monitored security system has live video for all dog and employee areas which the owners monitor with their mobile devices.  Besides that, we are located out in the county, and some of our staff members, as well as the company owner, lives on-site, who are all just slightly overprotective of the dogs... LOL!!

6) Has your facility experienced any recent outbreaks of puppy diseases or respiratory illnesses such as parvo or kennel cough? And do you require all the dogs in the kennel to be fully vaccinated?

Asking this question is super important for the health of your dog.  Parvo can be spread simply by walking where parvo has been and it can live on surfaces and in the ground for a very long time.  Puppies should NEVER be kenneled in a boarding facility or training facility until they have had at least 3 parvo vaccinations and are at least 16 weeks of age.  Some of the local veterinarians are recommending a 4th vaccination for parvo just because parvo is really bad in Clovis.  Our facility has been completely free from any outbreaks and we work hard to make sure it stays that way.  All dogs that come into our facility must have proof of vaccinations prior to scheduling.
